Billionare Richard Branson doesn’t only have his eye set on space, but he is also wanting to take customers under the sea.
Today Branson’s underwater plane has been revealed, which is a a $600,000+ submersible craft that he hopes to take people down as much as 35,000 feet. Gizmodo says that for the time being the craft can only dive to 130 feet, so it looks like there are some leagues to cover before the Virgin founder’s dreams are realized.
DailyMail reports that the craft is called the Necker Nymph, and it can be rented out from Branson’s private island, Necker Island, for $25,000 a week. It can carry two passengers (plus the pilot) for two hour trips, and the craft is piloted by joystick.
Sounds like a pretty fun idea if you have the money to take part in something like this. Then again, if you have the money to easily rent out a $25,000 per week submersible craft I would assume that you wouldn’t get too much thrill out of the trip. It’s too bad Branson’s dreams can’t be realized by all of us. I would love to take a trip underwater in a craft like this, or into space, but I just haven’t won the lottery yet.

That looks better than that thing we got in G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra
